Her culinary experience began when she observed her mom test recipes at home as she edited cookbooks. She eventually ended up becoming the head chef of Butter. Guarnaschelli participated in the 2007 Farmers Market Battle, a segment of Food Network's Iron Chef America, where she was up against Cat Cora. Since then, she has participated on the show as a guest judge. She also participated in The Next Iron Chef Season Four in 2011, when she finished third. She also competed in The Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast episode but was eliminated from the competition. After the fourth season, she was Geoffrey Zakarian's sous chef.
